Our commitment to conservation is demonstrated through regenerative farming practices, encouraging biodiversity while crafting exceptional wines.

Wines that reflect our terroir

Set on a landscape sculpted by nature over 600 million years, Waterford Estate benefits from this ancient terroir. Our journey is dedicated to capturing the unique character of the Helderberg Mountain in every bottle, producing wines that reflect the rich soils, diverse cultures, and vibrant ecosystems of South Africa.

Quality and ecological balance

Every sip of our wine reflects our commitment to quality and sustainability. With ecological balance at the heart of our vineyard practices, supported by our Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) certification, we embrace sustainable techniques to enhance grape quality and safeguard the environment.

Our regenerative approach

Our focus is on practices that promote soil health and biodiversity. We grow cover crops to reduce soil erosion and enhance water quality. Our livestock aerates the soil, while ladybugs naturally manage pests, supporting our organic approach. We also replace alien species with WWF-approved indigenous trees.

"We decided to visit the farm after my partner heard numerous positive comments about it, and we are so grateful we did because it truly is a hidden gem on the wine route. What sets this place apart is its authenticity. The Mediterranean architecture complements the experience, which focuses on wine tasting, wine safaris, and cellar tours. My partner indulged in the wine and chocolate experience, which looked incredible. I couldn't resist trying the white wine and chocolate combination - it was heavenly!"

"The estate is absolutely stunning, featuring picturesque architecture both inside and out, and the lovely inner courtyard provides a perfect setting to appreciate the surroundings. The staff was friendly without being overly intrusive. While the pricing is a step up compared to nearby estates, it is still very fair, and the experience offers excellent value for the money spent."

"It was a wonderful experience definitely a must if you love wine and not just to drink but to experience in detail there are so much to do on the on the estate and the chocolate pairing they offer is devine. Would definitely go back."

"The wines are absolutely amazing, but the highlight of this visit was by far the wine drive with Brett. There’s something truly special about enjoying Chardonnay right by the Chardonnay block in the vineyard. Plus, if you're going to spend three hours discussing wine in a Land Rover, it has to be with someone knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate. Every inch of Waterford is breathtaking!"

"By far the best place we’ve visited in South Africa! The wine and food were fantastic, and the service was exceptional."

“The Jem is gloriously unique, built on a base of Cabernet Sauvignon with 52% Syrah, Mourvèdre, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese and Barbera towering above it. Part Bordeaux, part Rhône Valley part northern Italy, it's also uniquely South African, with stylish, perfumed, elegant aromas and flavours of red and black fruits, nuanced oak and a long, tapering finish.”
